Health Promotion
We empower communities to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases through education, screening and advocacy with a strong focus on raising awareness about cancer risk factors, symptoms and the importance of early screening for breast and cervical cancer.
Our public education and awareness program on tobacco control endeavours to raise the awareness level of the community especially in the urban informal settlements on the effects of tobacco and nicotine use, in an effort to mitigate their deadly effects. We carry our sensitization at every level including school programs, community baraza’s, health centres, awareness walks, youth friendly centres etc. To support our public education efforts, we have built a long standing relationship with community media and community health promoters (CHP's) who have been proactive in engaging the public on matters tobacco control.
Through partnerships with community-based gender defenders, we actively engage in outreach activities to raise awareness about gender based violence (GBV) and its detrimental effects. We do this through educational campaigns, community dialogues, referrals and linkages to clients and external partners.
At inception, the organization with support from the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) formerly National AIDS Control Council (NACC) implemented HIV/AIDS behaviour campaigns targeting youth through training workshops, football tournaments, condom distribution and HIV testing outreach services.
Empowering the Community
